We supported multiple initiatives to optimize the privacy program for a multi-national television network and streaming service. Projects included supporting compliance with cookies and consent management by developing and implementing a cookie inventory and management process for over 120 web properties and apps. This process included scanning each site, working with site managers to categorize the cookies, conducting an a sale or share analysis where applicable, establishing geofencing rules, designing, and personalizing the cookie banner for each site, testing scripts on staging sites, and ultimately supporting final implementation. The implementation also included implementation and testing of universal opt-out signals, applicable consent strings, and Google Consent Mode.

We worked in collaboration with the in-house legal, privacy, and technology teams to develop visual workflow maps of all ad tech and product related consumer data flows within the organization to determine where first- and third-party data was being processed throughout the organization’s ad tech ecosystem. These maps were then leveraged to identify gaps in compliance regarding the placement of tracking technologies, the consumer opt-out process, and the identification of vendors that required DPAs.

We supported the development of operational tracking technology management process focusing on Global Privacy Control signal functionality within a manufacturer of connected electronics with a large online presence. Activities included scanning websites for cookies, pixels, web beacons and other in-scope tracking technologies; reviewing cookies discovered during scan; categorizing discovered cookies; building a cookie preference center, including design and functionality (e.g., geolocation rules and GPC functionality); drafting language for cookie preference center (user interface) and cookie category descriptions; coordinating with client’s eCommerce team to implement test script on staging site; and supporting go-live operations. Additionally, we developed a tracking technology management SOP and trained internal stakeholders for ongoing management of the properties’ tracking technologies.

We conducted a detailed assessment of a pop-culture content platform’s digital properties to identify any gaps in their compliance requirements with particular focus on tracking technology management and control, automated opt-outs (e.g., GPC), data subject rights intake + fulfillment, marketing consent + unsubscribe, and privacy notice content. The assessment was conducted by mapping the existing privacy programs against applicable privacy regulations and requirements in addition to business needs and risk tolerance. The final deliverable was a gap assessment and corresponding remediation plan with step-by-step recommendations to bring the properties to full compliance.
